Syncie..yes this passage has so many implications that if you can grasp what God is telling us it will rock the world you live in..
Just think about it.
Esau the oldest but hated by God from birth just because he was not going to be obedient at some point in the future...and not be obedient by serving or having the heart of the servant. Then the prodigal son in the new testament the youngest rebels and leaves his fathers house but returns and is accepted and clothed and fed and had the ring put on his finger and shod and the banquet and the fatted calf was prepared for him ..why all the favor...why...what is God trying to show us.??

It is this ...there was one monumental difference between Esau and the prodigal son...remember when the prodigal son was living with the pigs he though to himself that he would be better off living in his fathers house as a servant than living as he was living ...

You see..right there although he made mistakes he was showing God he had the heart of a servant...and that made him instantly popular with God ...instantly in favor and instantly...redeemed and rescued..

But an equally important point is Jacob, the brother of the hated Esau..the election was not supposed to be his, Esau thought the election was stolen from him...but we all know it was not ..only that Jacob wanted it from birth...

Remember when Rebecca was giving birth to the twin boys. Jacob and Esau...who was it that stuck a hand out first...this is so good...do you feel the spirit of God...

remember that one twin stuck out his hand and tried to pull Esau back in:: the bible says Jacob took hold of Esau's heel( remember it says in the bible that the heel of satan has been bruised by Christ. This is another story but it is related I will try to get into this later on)..why has this little detail been passed down thousands of years...but who was it that was trying to be born first..it was Jacob the younger..you see even from birth Jacod wanted his older brothers blessing...can you see it..

Jacob the younger...we are the younger...Jacob not the rightful birthright...we have not the natural birthright..Esau hated because he did not have a heart of a sevant and really the birthright passed to Jacob not because he was so deserving but because God was so displeased with Esau...we have a greater belssing because God was so displeased with the nation of Israel...we become the spiritual Israel and have all the rights and blessings meant to the older son....but it is all based on having a heart of a servant unless God hate us as he hated Esau... In Christ...Greg
