Parts were available.

However, there were about 80 or so F14As sold to Iran and we know they were cannibalizing them throughout the 80s, as well as acquiring parts wherever possible. I believe that's been common knowledge.

Parts sales directly to Iran after the revolution were prohibited but parts were available. In addition, many parts can be custom manufactured.

As of the beginning of '02 25 of Iran's F14s were still operational at which time Iran began a $1 Billion project to overall their F14s.

I think you oversimplify the situation substantially. When the United States says, "We're not selling parts for this or that piece of equipment", that does not mean those parts are not available elsewhere.
