A spokesman for the Iraqi PM said this morning that they are ready to assume security of the country before the 2011 date of the "agreement" in place now.

Actually, they said nothing about assuming security of the country, which is the reason WE have insisted on the ability to stay longer -- it is up to US to insure they are ready because WE will have to clean up the mess if the withdrawal is too early.

The reality is that we have been transferring substantial responsibility for the security to them for some time, essentially, since the violence dropped as a result of the surge Obama opposed. So, while the Bush plan called for us to stay as long as 2011, we were free to withdraw at any time prior should the circumstances on the ground permit it.

If Obama makes this blunder and Iraq collapses into Chaos, he insures a one-term presidency for himself.

"But with the emphasis on a responsible withdrawal, al-Dabbagh said the Iraqi government was willing for the U.S. to leave "even before the end of 2011." The Bush administration agreed in a security agreement signed in November to remove all U.S. troops by the end of 2011."
