Chinese government would react to passage of this legislation with retaliatory measures that would make life more difficult for U.S. exporters or U.S. companies doing business in China Protectionism and trade wars do not work very well, for either side. The repercussions would be big and unpredictable. The yuan already appreciated a lot against the USD over the past few years, but the politicians are too anxious to look like they are doing something.
