Here come the baby boomer-lol: We have been warned about the baby boomers breaking the social system and in a sense I am the first one, as I was born december 7, 1941 (the start of WW II for the US)-lol. I get my first social security check August 7, 2007. So we need several trillion dollars to pay for the wars and rebuild the military. Several trillion for the baby boomers. We have a declining economy. Our trade deficit is almost a trillion dollars a year and rising. And we used up all of our equity and economic safety nets during the last 6 years with artificially, 40 year low interst rates. So now if we go into a recession we cannot lower interest rates to get out of it without destroying the dollar. Delima. The US is supposed to pay off debt during times of plenty and borrow during times of need. The US just did the opposite and the consequences will soon be felt. Slan can confirm how many took out home equity loans.
