Barrett: "Sell your AMD stock now!"

tecchannel.de

On his European tour (Friday in Munich) Barrett made the statement above when joking after being asked about the increasing competition from Transmeta and AMD. Asked why Intel switched so late to copper interconnects, he answered: "The process isn't that important for us, we just make the fastest transistors. We didn't need it [Edit: copper] so far. Why don't you ask the other companies why they needed it already?" And finally an interesting comment about Rambus: He said that it was still a "valuable" technology but that in the future customers would have the choice between "cheaper SDRAM and expensive DDR-SDRAM and RDRAM".
