Elliott Wavers have a somewhat elegant explanation for all this anger and negativity. Basically, the theory maintains that the public mood is continuously changing, and it does so cyclically, from very positive to very negative, and back. Those cycles are fractal, like Russian Matreshkas, the dolls in which the larger ones contain the smaller ones. The markets, the economy, the animal spirits in general, issues of war and peace -- are all subjects to those swings in public mood.

By some interpretations, we are in the early stages of a very major decline, possibly an order of magnitude larger then the Great Depression. One can only hope that all those things are nonsense, and that it will all blow over. But so far things do look ominous.
