For decades there was a saying on Wall Street:

"Never bet against the Yankees, General Motors, or US Steel."

After that it was IBM. Aside from the Yankees, none of these companies had the best products in their sectors. Had there been an internet, each one would have had one or more flame threads. Yet they went on making money for their investors throughout the most difficult century in history.

Today Microsoft and Intel fit the same pattern. Don't know what the future holds for either one, but I sure as hell wouldn't bet against them.
