Anytime ANYONE (even your local police detectives) do an interrogation, the entire object is to get intelligence that they can confirm by other means. You've been watching too much TV. It isn't like the movie "Rendition" where it is a total fishing expedition. Each piece of intelligence is verified against stuff they already know. If they get something new, they cross check it against other information for consistency. These people aren't rank amateurs. As to your story about Afghanistan, it sounds like bullshit. Doubtful you would know it had this occurred.
