Thanks for your information regarding GENE.

NIH : National Institute of Health. Responsible for funding and
conducting research both academic and industrial. They also help
set up guidelines for research and safety standards (as does the
Center for Disease Control [CDC]). NIH HQ is located in Maryland (?)
feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

NIH has granted GENE $40 million cash for research.

As for EPS. Unfortunately, from a technical standpoint, I don't see
GENE trading much higher than $11-12 unless market conditions become
incredibly bullish. Also, EPS is only expected to be 6 cents and
4 cents for the all of 1996 and all of 1997??? is there EPS for
1998?

EPS must be at least 30 cents to $1.00 for 1998 for the stock to
even trade near $25/share. Does anyone see it doing that?

I would like to know why GENE isn't making substantial earnings.
Is the company expecting to see substantial future earnings (i.e.
1998 and beyond?).

We can all do technical analysis and determine where the stock
SHOULD be trading and alot of math to determine moving averages,
PEs, etc....but I would like to know if anyone has any real
information regarding how the company feels about how it is doing.
(i.e. the opinions expressed by analysts and traders are rather
irrelevant for the LONGTERM.)

From comparing data among the others: HGSI, INCY, MYGN, MLNM, and
SQNA...I believe GENE may be the underperformer (based on fundamentals).

HGSI, INCY, and SQNA are leaders at the moment. HGSI and INCY are
both trading expensively. SQNA (after issuing stock) is trading
at a fairly cheap level ($15 3/4-17). INCY needs to come down to
the lower-mid 30s.

MLNM (millennium) is trading expensively in the $15-16 range...will
be a good buy at $11-13.
