WORK TO BEGIN ON CERRO BLANCO

September 10, 1996 VSE symbol: PFG

The continuing drilling program by Barrick Gold on Pacific Rim's Diablillos
property in northwestern Argentina indicates the orebody is open in all
directions and in particular to the northeast towards the company's
recently acquired 1,700 hectare, Cerro Blanco property. Cerro Blanco lies
less than 3 kilometres from Diablillos drill hole 96-10 which returned 470
feet of .03oz/t gold equivalent.

Cerro Blanco is easily accessible with similar geological alterations and
surface conditions to those found on Diablillos. Pacific Rim's geologist,
J. Brito, will undertake a major geological testing, trenching and sampling
to determine drill sites which will test the theory that the mineralization
extends into the Cerro Blanco property.

ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
PACIFIC RIM MINING CORP.
