3Com forms development alliance with Broadcom By Bloomberg News December 11, 2000, 4:00 p.m. PT update 3Com, a maker of equipment to link computers, gave Broadcom the right to purchase about 2 percent of its stock and formed a development alliance with the maker of communications chips. Broadcom will pay $35 million for a warrant to acquire 7.1 million 3Com shares over two years, chief executive Henry Nicholas said in an interview.
