I'm all for getting rid of the terrorists. I not happy about them killing 1000s of people nor am I happy about killing 1000s of "collaterals" to get the job done. I think we're better than that that's all. I don't buy the excuse that they made us do it....that's a cop out to me. We have choices, we should make good ones. The first one should be to get rid of those who take up arms against us - yes.

Of course I realize this can't be done in a vacuum - but when I hear people talking about nuclear weapons....I have to shake my head. When I hear people talk about invading countries I have to wonder if a few dozen of these people can figure out a way to murder 6000+ people, can they also figure out a way to kill 10,000+ of our military too? What happens then? World War III and the end of the world.

So let's not just talk about a short-term solution only. I want to hear about long-term solutions as well. Remember, once you start down a certain path, its hard to go back and take another one. Why should I just jump on the bandwagon blindly only to discover later that we've past opportunities that could have save lives....1000s of them?

Even the military trains people not to work from emotion but rather from training. They pound it into you so that when the time comes, emotion doesn't get in the way. You know why? Because emotions are not reliable.

I agree that there's no easy solution and that we must do WHATEVER it takes to get rid of the terrorists. Killing them all tomorrow means that we'll have a short period of time where there are no "ready-to-go" terrorists who are smart enough, trained enough or prepared enough to get through whatever security we can throw up. Over time, the same forces that created those terrorists in the first place will create another generation of terrorists who will take the time to get money, get trained, get guns & ammo etc so they can strike back. So we go off and kill them all again and again and again -

Why not figure out what creates such a force that turns people into these animals and eradicate it? This way we don't have to go out and kill them again and again and again (while they kill 100s or 1000s of us in the mean time).

This great country became this great because of many things - its military might, its intellectual might and its sense of right. Let's keep that focus and do this "right".

Now if you feel we can't change the world so that it won't create such people - then I wonder, what type of optimism do we have when we believe we can't do it? When did we become quitters?

We did a pretty good job with Germany and Japan, that might be what we'll have to do all over again.

God Bless
