If you use Linux the way you use Windows, then Windows is the better product. The movement behind Linux is a movement away from PC-centric computing to server-based computing with thin clients, like browsers, X-Windows, Terminal Server or Citrix. And remember, there is difference between attacks and viruses. Attacks may down a server or a site, whereas a virus spreads all over the place and therefore creates much more damage. It is a fact, that Linux is much more virus-safe than Windows, although some applications on top of Linux might feature virus-enabling technology, like if MS Office would be ported to Linux. Regarding StarOffice and security, there is a discussion going on at Slashdot right now: slashdot.org There are no good comments as of the time I write this, but I hope some insightful persons will comment.
