Sulfuric acid is harmful but if you're around an explosion of sulfuric acid, you're more likely to be killed by the explosion than by the acid.
It's not a chemical warfare agent.
When I was working at Exxon Refinery, I had to shut off a pump that blew a seal and was pumping pure sulfuric acid everywhere. I did it wearing a respirator, a rubber suit, a hard hat, a clear plastic face mask, gloves, boots, and carrying an umbrella. Specialized equipment of course, for process operators, not secretaries. I was one of the first two female process operators in the Western world, please think of it as serious as if a man did it. LOL. |
