off topic to Steve,
in my post on the other thread i said that i have aversion to hearing people talking about god, churches etc. nowhere i mentioned that i would forbid anyone talking about anything.
freedom of speach is valued highly in US but it is so in many other places of the world, which in fact have fought and enjoyed various freedoms well before US begin to proclaim to be a model country in that respect.
yes, it is true that many religious people are not a threat to anyone (outside of my brother and myself, all my family is catholic, and i do not think most of them threaten anyone) but many are. so it should not come as a surprise to you that some people, like me, react to religious talk with fear.
if god tells you to invest in this or that and it works than great for you. i do not know whether god or gods exist, so i am holding my jugment on that, but dreams about stocks which were profitable i have also had. whether they came from god or some universal subconcience, who knows.
there is something i would like to mention at the end. in current catholic teachings (at least, when i was studying it in my childhood) you do not have to be a believer to go to heaven. faith is considered a gift from god and some people just did not get it. but if they live a life as good people they will join others in heaven. i have always liked that interpretation since it puts stress on what i consider to be most important, namely to be a good person. whether someone believes in this or that god is to me of no relevance.
that is also the reason why i react with negative feelings towards people building churches. you do not need a church to be a good person. you can worship your god in your prayers every day and anywhere, and put the money into building schools, playgrounds, resonable housing, etc.
by the way, as a novice investor, i do appreciate the advice you give on this thread.
it is 9:30 pm here :) wiesia |
