Mac OS wins ROI

I read that article and first I'd like to say the survey is somewhat flawed. The survey is done in the media sector where the MAC is by far ahead of Windows based system. Obviously the users know how to the Mac with dexterity. They work with it all day and therefore more comfortable with the machine than Windows.

Second they do not mention if users where using Windows 95. Windows 95 penetration in the corporate sector is low and most people are still using windows 3.1x.

I do a lot of technical support work with both OS 7.6 and OS 8.0

OS 7.6 impressions

Very similar to 7.5x, a little more stable, but still gives you arcane error messages. Still prone to unusual crashes. That's why Apple came out with 7.6.1. Enough said

OS 8.0 impressions

Ah finally a very stable OS. I've had very few crashes. That's why Apple is selling well here, people have a reason to upgrade from 7.5x. More interface tweaking and Internet jazzing up. I like it a lot. It is slower than 7.6x in most areas as confirmed by Mac Articles. Would not recommend it on older 040 machines if you don't have lots of RAM.

BTW: Apple's new commercials are very tame. Shows a couple of action shots and cuts away to a Powerbook 3400 or their latest high speed PowerPC. They need to add more of a statement I think.
