You're certainly right that all the semiconductor companies will want to go to 300mm wafers as soon as they are able. However, right now they can't. The bottleneck is the steppers. There are no 300mm lithography exposure tools available. I think that the Japanese have the only one in existence, and it's a prototype built for the industry group R&Ding the transition. I haven't even heard when any such steppers might be available. Just about all of the other tools are already in place. Any info you can find on this subject would be welcomed!
