Most college professors are highly intelligent failures.

I noticed that one myself, and I have to wonder how you define "failure".

My father was a professor; he worked very reasonable hours, had long vacations, enjoyed his work, got huge amounts of positive feedback from his students, earned quite decent money, and generally had a hell of a good time. If this is failure, I wouldn't mind a bit of it for myself.

There were pompous oafs around the faculty, but there are as many or more in the average corporate boardroom.
