Was that the facility that they just started up last spring or another one? What R&D did they do there? Isn't anyone even being relocated? Well, for what it is worth, from what I hear about the San Jose area, anyone with any technical expertise will be able to find a job in no time. Probably with a signing bonus, according to the scuttlebutt in the press. Even so, it is hard if you've worked for a company for a long time. Been there. Actually made more money the year I was laid off than the year before, counting all of the severence pay, the consulting contract that they offered a week later (such sweet guys), and the job I took later in the year--and that was in 91-92, when layoffs were rampant, and unemployment twice the rate it is now.
