Yes, typically in a buyout many key Directors, VP's, and clearly the CEO contract to stay for a minimum amount of time...perhaps a year to two years max.. Key technology scientists will likely fall into this group as well, however day to day managers, engineers, and other support people will not be contracted and could indeed leave. Keep in mind that in Silycon Valley option are a key source of income. Given this and the fact that other companies are constently looking for good people many would probably leave .... without some sort of attractive package to keep them.
