100 million is just too much for a company that has a decent OS, but no marketshare. it will take a lot to get things going on that platform, and aapl would be spending too much. if they cant get it for 50, then they should license. cost/benefit just doesnt warrant a higher price. now, if they did the deal with a mixture of cash and equity, then i could go for it. say, 50 million cash, and 50 million in equity. the problem is aapl needs the cash for expansion in core pc markets overseas, not to buy a concept.

i know this probably sounds like i am very negative on BE. i am not. i just do not like for companies i hold to pay way too much for companies.

as for hardware-- well, there are several companies that manufacturer video editing equipment that is much cheaper than conventional. it would be best for apple to team up with them and work together. on the low end, for local tv stations they could either buy or team up with the video toaster people( dont remember the name of the company. it sis somewhere in the midwest). either way these would be high margin machines allthough the volume would not be as high.

in addition to the above, i would liek to see apple turn out some great servers at cheap prices that can manage macs, win95 and win3.11 clients. server margins are incredible-- see cpq and dell-- and i think apple could do well in that market.

and here endeth my wish list.

good luck to all,
trey
