This is now being used by X-Stream in the UK, Sweden, Norway and Denmark, as well as, under exclusive license agreement with Livedoor, Japan's first free ISP that successfully launched on November 29, 1999.
Version 3.5 of the X-Stream software, which is available on CD-ROM or may be downloaded from X-Stream Central, will take users into the new Millennium. The new software is faster, occupies less screen space and boasts navigational tools, such as the Web Search portlet and MP3 Search portlet, that makes the user's Internet experience simple and convenient.
Christopher Sukornyk, President & Chief Technology Officer of the X-Stream Network, said: ''Version 3.5 software is the culmination of two and a half years of software and network development. We have deployed this software in the UK, Scandinavia and Japan with great success. V 3.5 is a well-tested platform that allows X-Stream to deliver more reliable and faster services than previously possible.''
The new software release, version 3.5, goes hand-in-hand with X-Stream's brand new network architecture. X-Stream has built its new network around leading edge equipment which has served to make X-Stream one of the most reliable and user-friendly Internet Service Providers in Europe.
The software has been translated into Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, and Japanese to provide users with access in whichever language they prefer. To cater to advanced users, X-Stream's software now allows subscribers to set-up a dial-up networking connection if they prefer, enabling users to have their email programs automatically connect and retrieve email.
All of X-Stream's services have been integrated into V 3.5, which means the user only needs to remember one username and password for all the X-Stream service offerings. The new software also provides users with a reliable POP3 email account and up to 10 alias email accounts.
In addition to the introduction of this innovative new software, the X-Stream portal site (www.x-stream.co.uk) has been completely revamped, linking users to the best of the web and also to web search and MP3 search boxes. Users can also download thousands of free software programs from X-Stream Central.
X-Stream's software has also been modified to support co-branding with X-Stream's partners that wish to provide free Internet access and other value-added services to their customer base.
