China's PMI Improves In January

(RTTNews) - China's CFLP purchasing managers' index rose to 45.3 in January from 41.2 in December and from a record low of 38.8 in November, reports said Wednesday.

A reading above 50 indicates expansion, while a reading below 50 signals a contraction.

Although the PMI improved in January, it was the fourth consecutive month the index remained in contraction.

In January, new orders including export orders increased from the previous month. The production index also showed an improvement from December. However, the employment index declined.
