Iran is more like china was before the big breakthru. Iran is not a cobbled together nation like iraq. Persia has been a country before the US was invented and its people are very pragmatic and realistic. I think iran needs to be engaged even if the attempt fails. It probably will seem to fail at first. Iran needs a US relationship (to add balance) to offset some of the dangers on their borders including al quaeda infested afganistan and pakistan not to mention a more assertive russia. I agree with you re: NK and i dont think anyone is talking about NK in same terms as Iran.
