Transit representing a large portion of passenger-miles moved, or even a portion that's growing over the longer term? No, that hasn't been happening.

Your data is for one year or less, and looks at a point where gas prices where particularly high. Talk about cherry picking.

Americans are now finding that the buses, streetcars, trolleys and trains that they left behind are strapped for cash, if they still exist at all.

Transit effectively loses money on each sale, and now is trying to make up for it with volume.
