FYI, the Holocene is the latter geological period where there was a great dryas, and during that evaporative period, lake bottoms revealed vast salt beds which found their way windborne into the proximal markets. This sort of evaporite deposition is very common in the hinterland where it is harder to check. A side effect of the climate in these regions is that it is hard to stay seated in a helicopter when it is moving.
