Oh, I couldn't agree with you more. I am always telling people with simple problems how to solve them by themselves, without charge. I figure that maybe when they have a real problem, they'll remember me fondly, and come back. Call it a "loss leader." But I couldn't charge someone for something they could solve themselves. Although those free half-hour consultations will be the ruin of me.
