And just why would you expect anything different? CW (contemporary wisdom) is that any scientist would be lost under such circumstances; you would need an engineer to handle the material complexities of jump-starting a car.

As a scientist and one who has owned many old near-death automobiles (and has repaired lab and shipboard equipment with materials at hand - gum, paper clips, shoelaces, etc.) I can state unequivocally that such a model is spurious, but try to convince the Great Unwashed of taht...
