Ira, take a look at www.cognos.com. 'About Cognos'
says ROE has gone from 8 to 17 percent.
I bought Cognos at $CAD58 but sold way too soon. Now it
dipped back a bit from $CAD80, but I am still afraid of it going
like micron!
Their products are fine, and they expect large growth. Impromptu
is a product that claims to let users 'view their business rather than
their database.' That sounds good to someone like me, who finds
PARADOX rather intimidating (or maybe just clumsy).
If you buy a $80 stock what are the chances that it will reach $100
in 6 months? (Unless it splits.) Compare that to chances of a $8 stock
doubling in 6 months---that seems to happen a lot more often.
Which is why *I* like penny stocks, and avoid the Cognos ilk.
There is only one reason to be in the market, and that is to make money,
NOT to own pieces of admittedly 'fine companies'.
