Just noticed a priceless quote from your link:
In general, Palestinians and Arabs are VERY PROUD that they were among the FEW who did not collaborate openly with Nazis. On the other hand, the people and governments of France, Italy, Japan, Romania, Croatia, Chechnya, Bulgaria, Switzerland, ..etc. collaborated openly with the Nazis. Sadly, many of these people happily pointed out their Jewish neighbors and citizens to the Gestapo. If such rule must be applied toward the Palestinian people, then it must be applied with equal proportions to others.
Very proud, huh? I can point out one other thing that the Palestinians did NOT have in common with the aforementioned governments: they were not occupied by Germany or an Axis regime! (Why Switzerland is in the list I can't imagine.) Rommel failed to conquer Palestine, and the Palestinian Arabs remained under the British Mandate. Now they claim MERIT for not collaborating with a government they never had!
They just wished they had a German government. The Mufti wasn't some sort of a fringe character -- he was a national hero! Can anyone doubt the eager collaboration the Gestapo would have received if they had even been in a position to ask for the names and whereabouts of the Jews of Palestine?
These guys have brass, I'll say that much. |
