Ali, remember you're on the value investing thread--a different mindset. Common stock dividends are discretionary. As owners of the company we can decide (through our appointed management) what portion of the available cash flow to distribute to ourselves, or we can let the cash sit in our corporate cash and marketable securities accounts, or we can use it to buy back stock, etc.
