I found similar story re USRX suit settlement, followed immediately
by interesting Intel announcement today:

U.S. Robotics suits settled
U.S. Robotics' former shareholders have settled lawsuits
over the computer modem maker's $8.54 billion merger with 3Com
for $500,000 in attorneys' fees and costs. The settlement,
which still needs a Delaware judge's approval, ends all litigation
stemming from U.S. Robotics' June combination with 3Com, a Santa
Clara computer networking company, the lawyers said. (Bloomberg)

and...

New Intel chipset speeds audio-video
Intel Corp. announced a new chipset using technology that further
speeds and enhances the playback of audio and video on personal
computers. Called the 440LX AGPset, the chipset features so-called
Accelerated Graphics Port technology, which, when combined with its
MMX multimedia technology on its microprocessors, is designed to
boost the performance of 3-D computer graphics. As the processor
becomes faster and more advanced, other parts of the computer such
as chipsets have lagged behind, making the processor underused.

(Bloomberg)

Is this announcement fueling new "everything-on-a-chip" speculation
that pounded COMS into the pavement not all that long ago..?
