The NFL Sunday Ticket is the best selling sports package in Directv's arsenal..Sales for the DSS product always increase, which in turn hurts DISH, during an NFL promo, or coming into the football season. A number of customers that have purchased DISH were hopefully expecting a more comprehensive sports lineup, and possibly NFL..One thing that I have told several customers..do not buy based on rumors or what you think DISH will have in the future, buy based on the value that DISH provides for you today....Besides, even *if* you can get the networks, east & west, the most you will get are 6 games..versus 13, and it still may not be the game you're interested in viewing..The first year that the NFL Sunday Ticket was available, it was on C-band. Sales were *ok*, but not that great, at least from what I experienced, but when DSS and Directv took on this package, sales dramatically improved...It was and still is a reasonable deterrent from any other system, due to that exclusivity..People not only buy based on value, but also on services as well, regardless of price ie: $49.95 for a Tyson fight, $24.95 for WCW wrestling...IMO it would be a major coup to draw market share from such a venture, and DISH may have made a mistake in not persuing this vigorously..
