Thomas: Thus far, the snippets I have caught during this holiday weekend seem to indicate that Brinker is staying the course by anticipating brief and contained low percentage downdrafts fol- lowed by higher prices. Not surprisingly, Brinker advocates his usual dollar cost averaging at these lofty levels. Indeed, with the S&P 500 banging at the door of 24 times earnings and the total market already up 14% from 1 January, Brinker declared that he strongly doubts whether this market will ever exceed P/E multiples "beyond the 20's" and, therefore, ever approach the stratospheric multiples (50 and above) seen in the Japanese market during the late 1980's. Those who heard more complete segments of MoneyTalk are more than welcome to add to or amend these observations.
