I am urging all to make the first line of their post a clue to the major content of the post. Some people (not so much on this thread) have a habit of making the first line someone's name with a colon up front, and then a couple of lines of blank space, which means the reader must click on the post to read the subject. It's nice to have posts with a first sentence that acts like a headline, so the busy reader can determine the relevance of the post to their needs.

<eom> means "End of Message" and is noted because if you have a one line post, the reader can skip to the next post, knowing the entire post was read from the subject page post headers. It is just a courtesy to the reader. Some people use <e>.
