I on the other hand think the U.S. has no business arming, funding, and training the likes of Saddam, Noriega, Pinochet, the Taliban, and so on.

As for living in the real world, there's nothing wrong with that. What's dangerous is believing that your ideals are so superior to those of the rest of the world that hiring terrorists and dictators to defeat them is defensible.
