And now we're doing the same thing with light rail which is even more efficient.

Not if it isn't being heavily used. Remember the original question was whether a freeway at capacity was more efficient than a light rail line that was underutilized.

Light rail will be used heavily because cities are encouraging housing around station stops.......just like was done with freeways. And the nice thing about light rail, you don't have to build more tracks.....just add cars to increase capacity.
