Adam: Sorry and condolences. As it turns out, the interests arrayed against RMBS were able to garner an impressive armamentarium of propaganda against the company. CMP media included (see the link in your post). Industry consortium (AMI2) established to deal with this "problem." Expert opinions all over the place (including this board) bashing the company, its technology and its stock. This because of the dramatic change this company represents to the memory industry, for better or worse. This because Rambus transferred technology to Hitachi and other memory manufacturers for the sole purpose of enabling these companies to manufacture and sell memories and logic products that are compatible with its Rambus DRAM specification. Sensing an opportunity to advance their art for free, some of these Companies then applied the know-how to create PC100, 133 and DDR. RMBS is owed big time. Toshiba agrees, Hitachi has settled, and the industry will follow. And the "experts" are still screaming: "Obvious Art!" "RDRAM is dead." "Beware the fury of the DRAMURAI." Sad but true, IMHO.
