I always let some of the brassicas -- broccoli, kale, mustard greens, and the like -- I grow in my garden go to seed, so I now have three separate flocks of song birds plus several loners that visit several times each day to feed on them.

Not only do I get the beautiful yellow flowers and the bees that visit them in the spring, but also a yard full of song once they have turned to seed (not to mention entertainment for my cats who are never successful in their attempts to catch the birds due to the way I stake up the stalks).

And the birds even scatter seeds around for the next crop while they are feeding.

Believe it or not, I've had neighbours wonder why I get so many birds as compared to their (horrid IMO) manicured lawn-style yards without bushes.
