I have committments from 3 to 6:30 PDST and won't be able to write the conference summary until later this evening. Bottomline, it was positive, but I believe we did not hold our highs today because there was no guidance for a higher estimate. Everything that was said was bullish. The company is just remaining very conservative. The Grand Ballroom was noticably fuller when ASND presented. James Cramer was in the wings waiting for the ASND presentation to start and holding court with about 5 people listening intently. And the Breakout Room was full before the ASND team arrived. It was standing room only. There were two people on telephone calling in the comments to others from the hallway outside the breakout room. It was amazing and not like the other to conferences I attended to watch ASND. Everyone one of the news items that I saw on my Signal Online when I got home were from the conference presentation. They were as follows: DB 09:28 [ASND] ASCEND SEES NO NEW COMPETITIVE THREATS CURRENTLY. DB 09:27 [ASND] ASCEND SEES 8 PERCENT GROWTH IN ACCESS PRODUCTS FOR UPCOMING QTRS. DB 09:26 [ASND] ASCEND SEES JAPAN REVENUES AT 10% OF TOTAL SALES IN Q2. DB 09:25 [ASND] ASCEND SEES 'LOW DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH' IN EUROPE FOR NEXT 2 QTRS. DB 09:25 [ASND] ASCEND BACKS Q2 AND 1998 EARNINGS OUTLOOK. I am only stopping in the house for a quick posting before running back out. I have not read any of the thread today. Did anyone pick-up the text that goes with these headlines? I don't pay for the news service, so I don't have the detail. One special Thank You to Pat Mudge. It's a long story, but if she had not called ahead there would be no way that either of us would have gotten in. This conference had security with a captial "S". Every hallway was monitored and even the ASND team was harassed for not having badges, and not admitted until they had them.
