I wont quibble with you here. The bill isnt the best there could have been both from a left and right perspective. What obama has given us so far is some confidence in the future, albeit not yet quantifiable. Hopefully this morphs into some self-confidence that returned under reagan after the horrific carter years. The mess bush left behind is akin to the iran hostages that carter gave reagan. But unlike the hostage crisis which was solved in a day, this mess will be more like what FDR had to take care of. Is the bill perfect? No! Do the dems suck big time for adding pet projects like reids train--yup. On the right, did it miss with more progressive tax cuts rather than cash back and AMT? Yup again. I think obama got done what could be gotten done. He needed 60 dems and got them. Perhaps in the future a centrist coalition can arise that would marginalize both the right wing do nothings and the left wing social engineers with wild schemes.
