I suppose in your alternate reality you can take some comfort....unfortunately, in the real world....you were wrong.

Unemployment was worse during the recession Reagan inherited.
Chrysler was bankrupt and needed a bailout.
In the 80's and 90's there were many bank failures related to a recession which began in the real estate sector.
US automakers have been losing money and have been insolvent for years....
