Olivine-- "Properties and Occurrences

"Deep inside the Earth, all kinds of minerals and rocks are flowing and existing. Among them, the mineral Olivine exists. It is a greenish mineral, and the hue varies from dark emerald green to the most common, yellow-green, to brown. Black and white forms are also known...

"Olivine occurs in ultramafic rocks, which are magnesium or fermium rocks (fermium is Latin for iron). Since olivine originates from the center of the Earth, olivine tends to be found in volcanic rock, which is magnesium and iron rich. The mineral does have a high melting point making it the first mineral to crystallize from mafic magma, and it is because of this early crystallization that olivine can distinctly be found in magmatic rocks... For additional proof as to the existence of olivine deep in the mantle of the Earth it is possible to look at the x-ray signatures taken from the Kapoho Lava Flow..."
