Steve, Doug Foster here. Try a new download now. PNJ has an updater feature in it which update frequently offering not just features but performance improvements. In the last few days we have cut boot time by 70%, shut down time by over half. JAVA programs require a "Java machine which is built in to PNJ" Performance will improve rapidly over initial install results. A quick start to PNJ is to point it at your favorite sites, give it some time to "capture" the main links. (Have a coffee) The impact of this is that PNJ will get to know you faster. If it appears to slow you down, consider not running it with a lot of other programs at the same time. I can assure you that this apparant overhead will diminish. Also, we are updating the refresh feature so that if you get to a site before it has been refreshed. ie: boot Netscape and go straight there, PNJ will offer a "refresh now!" option. That way you don't have to wait for it to catch up. PS. If you are on the net a lot PNJ will refresh automatically. Any system can be beat but we're working on it! Don't quit, it's still available for a free trial!
