Kerry:

Think it would be a good idea for you to carefully read the description of MVIS technology on their Web page (MVIS.COM).

Your questions may be very relevant for a conventional flat panel display but are totally immaterial re MVIS. The only factors I know of that limit the resolution of MVIS approach are:
1) Limitations due to unwanted diffraction effects (a limiting property of the basic physics of light).
2) The spot size of the light source used. Lasers can currently be focused down to about 1/4 micron.
3) Stability of the scanning system - i.e. the preciseness with which successive pixels can be positioned relative to each other.
4) Limitations in the focusing optics, such as chromatic abberation

Once you've read the Web page, you'll understand how fundamentally different this approach is to flat panels.
