US DVD Player sales up 358.4% in the lastest week. 1/2 million players sell in September.....................

Ending Oct. 1, 1999, DVD player sales totaled 275,491, up 358.4 percent from 1998. Projection television sales are also on the rise having sold 50,251, a 43 percent increase. Month-to-date sales remain spectacular. The total number of DVD players sold is 501,502, a 341.6 percent increase and projection televisions 160,790, a 27.4 percent increase. Year-to-date, a running total of 2,373,358 DVD players have been sold, a 327 percent increase from 1998 and 810,882 projection televisions, a 12.1 percent increase.
