Is there not a record date for shareholders to vote on issues. i.e. whenever I have received a dividend, this is only issued to share holders on a date, generally the date the dividend was issued. The two times I have been involved with a company in which I have owned stock and the company was bought out, the buy out date was the date of the buy out announcement.
