Gary, I did some volume_by_price calculations for the time
span from Jan.3.1995 through today. Every day I assumed
ALL shares traded were bought at the CLOSING price.
No further assumptions were made.

Results:

number of shares traded under $8.00 ----> 4,547,246,800
number of shares traded at $8 or >$8 ----> 3,987,087,200

GM
PS: I have this charted and can post the histogram on
my home page if there is any interest. A fact worth
noting: there were only 13 days were the closing price
was >$20. The peak closing price was $27.
