Hi/fn is expanding its security processor family this month with a device it said is appropriate for key management and authentication, as well asymmetric and public-key encryption. The 7901 processor is positioned for small-office/home-office speeds, ranging from basic-rate ISDN to multiple T1/E1 line support. It will complement the company's 7811 processor, which covers T1 to OC-3 speeds. Snip....

Re:Quantum. While it is disconcerting to get whacked by shortcoming at Q, the fact is that they are currently a significant customer (45% of sales). Even if the low margin products are the problem at Q (which may not use Hi/Fn chips) investors and fund managers don't always wait to understand the details of an announcement. Just my opinion.
